Frequently Asked Questions

Please have a read of the  frequently asked questions to discover how to get the most out of your  maternity photography session with Little Lovely.

The session fee includes a one hour session and i deliver all of the best images, i do not limit how many you get.  You can expect a gallery of 30+ images as a minimum.  Digital images are delivered via an online gallery for you to download directly within 2-3 weeks of your session. Your session deposit fee of $150 holds your booking in my system and the remaining balance is invoiced and due on the session date.

I always recommend scheduling maternity sessions between 30-35 weeks along, and weekend session dates often book out months in advance so please do book in as soon as possible!  Studio sessions or weekday evenings can have more availability at shorter notice.

Studio sessions are held in my styled studio at 80 hobsonville point road, hobsonville point.  Parking is available on the surrounding side streets and main road, just up from the studio.  Available immediate parking may be limited on weekends but there is plenty in the surrounding streets.

I have a few favourite locations for sunset sessions, which change depending on the season and i am happy to recommend some options for you.  If you have any ideas or locations you would like to use just let me know, i am always up for finding a new spot and absolutely love any location that is wild and overgrown with a rustic feel.  I love the seasonal and landscape element of a stunning outdoor location which adds to capturing this moment.

I love to photograph sunset maternity sessions in the magical hour before sunset for gorgeous soft light.  Weekend evening session availability is limited and booking in advance is required.  Studio sessions are held Monday-Friday 11am-2pm.

If the forecast is cloudy- that’s perfectly fine! Cloudy days make for great and flattering lighting.  Often cloudy days turn into amazing sunsets anyway.  If there is a high chance of rain, we will reschedule on the morning of the session.  When booking we choose a date between 30-35 weeks, if we get rained out and have to move the session back, we are on a pretty tight timeline so i like to give us as much time as possible to get that in with reschedules!

Yes absolutely!  Part of the booking process is a short online questionnaire where you can show me the exact style you love.

Yes, I provide a range of maternity gowns to choose from.  They are all one size fits most and i will pin as required for a perfect fit.  You can make an appointment to view and try on the gowns at the studio prior to your session.  If gowns aren’t your thing, i also love a relaxed family-session style where you can simply wear your own clothes, dressing for the season ie. A simple summer dress for warmer months or in winter think boots and a dress with tights, accessorising with a cute scarf or hat!

Dress everyone else in neutrals if possible (dark or light neutrals are fine), avoiding bright colours, heavy stripes, patterns, logos, pictures or words on clothing.  Clean, neutral coloured nails avoiding any bright or neon coloured nail polish is best.

Please bring a nude coloured bra and underwear as some of the gowns are sheer and dark undergarments can be seen through them, a low plunging bra if you have one can be helpful for the gowns with a deep v neckline and we can always tuck straps down if needed for strapless gowns.  During a session we will do 1-2 dress changes.  If you have any of your own outfits in mind, including lingerie or gowns, definitely bring them along!

Yes, absolutely!  These sessions are for capturing the whole family!  I recommend the outdoor sunset sessions if young siblings are involved, it gives them space to have fun and explore, capturing natural interactions for the family.  A good day/afternoon nap will be essential for a successful session with young siblings that still require a nap.  Prepare to have a substantial early dinner so everyone is happy and well fed.  Have easy snacks and drink bottles on hand for afterwards.

My studio has a no-pet policy but dogs can be included in sunset sessions.  Some locations do not allow dogs but we will use those that do allow dogs on-leash.  Please bring a friend or family member to help out with holding pup while you have some photos without them, especially if they are a high-energy puppy!

Makeup can be heavier than normal as this photographs well – lashes are a must!  Some people choose to get this done professionally with a hair and makeup artist before the session, or at a retail cosmetic counter.  Hair is ideally pinned, clipped or braided back a little for windy sunset sessions – use extra hairspray for the beach!!
