Frequently Asked Questions

Please have a read of the  frequently asked questions to discover how to get the most out of your Auckland newborn photography session with Little Lovely.

I deliver all of the best images I edit from the session, I do not limit how many you get, as a guide I would say between 30-50 would be expected. Digital images are delivered via an online gallery for you to download directly within 2-3 weeks of your session. Your session deposit fee holds your booking in my system.  Your remaining balance is invoiced and due on the session date.  Both in-studio, and in-home lifestyle newborn sessions, include gorgeous parent photos with baby, family and sibling photos if applicable, beautiful newborn portraits and a series of macro shots to capture the tiniest of details.

Studio newborn sessions are held in the little lovely studio at 80 Hobsonville point road, Hobsonville point.  Parking is available on the surrounding side streets and main road, just up from the studio.  Available immediate parking may be limited on weekends but there is plenty in the surrounding streets.

Lifestyle newborn sessions are held in the comfort of your own home, which means they are perfect for families with young siblings who might be more comfortable in their own home environment!  During the session i will capture details of your home to help tell the story of this time.

Yes, of course!  I do not expect anyone’s home to be staged to perfection or even tidy with a newborn in the mix!  When I arrive I will have a look around and will choose rooms to work in that have soft natural lighting, I will then help organise/declutter and style the space if required.  We usually use a bedroom for some poses on a bed, so if you have a neutral coloured duvet that is ideal, but let me know if you don’t and I can bring a throw/duvet cover along with me.

Posed newborn sessions are best booked within the first two weeks if possible.  We keep in touch in the lead up to due date and once baby is born we pick a session date to suit.  In-home lifestyle sessions are also perfect for slightly older newborns.  Newborn sessions are held Monday-Friday between 10am-2pm.

Sessions can take up to 3-4 hours depending on baby and how they settle and transition into poses, please allow at least four hours for a full session.  If siblings are part of the session, we do the family/sibling/parent photos first, then we ask that one parent or caregiver take the siblings home, or out for the remainder of the session.  Please do not schedule any visitors or appointments for the day of your session.  After the session baby and mum will need a rest.  Having people other than immediate family members present at the studio or at home during the session can be distracting and may add time constraints, which can impact on achieving a full gallery for you.

Yes absolutely!  Part of the booking process is a short online questionnaire where you can show me the exact style you love.

Yes, for studio sessions I provide a range of earthy-toned and rustic inspired props, including wraps, onesies and accessories.  If you have a certain set up or style in mind, let me know in advance so I can prepare.

For in-home lifestyle sessions I will bring some neutral/earthy toned swaddles and onesies to choose from.  I do love when parents provide a special outfit or have a favourite wrap to use themselves but sticking to neutral soft tones is ideal to create a timeless style.

Dress everyone in neutrals if possible (dark or light neutrals are fine), avoiding bright colours, heavy stripes, patterns, logos, pictures or words on clothing.  Clean, neutral coloured nails avoiding any bright or neon coloured nail polish is best.  Hair is best pinned or clipped back to prevent it covering the face in side profile images and make up (if worn) can be slightly heavier than normal as this photographs well.  I do have a range of gowns available in-studio for mums to wear if they wish to.

I will give you guidance on posing during the session, where to look and what to do with your hands, so you won’t feel awkward at all!  Not many people love having photos taken but I keep my sessions fun and lighthearted, focusing on capturing genuine interaction and moments together.  If baby is settled and sleepy we can do some relaxed newborn posing too.
